Jardines ambulantes

El incremento de las zonas verdes en el centro de las ciudades es un tema que cada vez se extiende más en todo el mundo. Su aportación es clara, las zonas verdes contribuyen a la absorción del CO2, aumentan el nivel de humedad ambiental, refrescan el ambiente, ayudan a embellecer espacios que alojan y además crean microhábitats para la fauna. 

Numerosos jardines alfombran techos y jardines verticales tapizan las paredes, también existen cuadros vegetales que podemos colgar en nuestra sala de estar... pero la idea más novedosa ha sido la de ajardinar las cubiertas del transporte público urbano.

«Una flota de 300 autobuses con la cubierta ajardinada, por ejemplo, representaría una superficie de 6.000 metros cuadrados de vegetación desplazándose constantemente por la ciudad» explica Marc Grañén, creador de Phyto Kinetic, el sistema que permite realizar estas instalaciones. 

Por el momento se ha realizado una prueba piloto en este autobús propiedad del Camping de Castell Montgrí, en la localidad L’Estartit de Girona (un hurra por España). Los usuarios han respondido de manera satisfactoria al verde experimento.

Las especies vegetales que se puedan utilizar dependerán de cada ciudad, pero actualmente se estudia el uso de cactus, hortalizas o hierbas aromáticas (nos gusta mucho la idea de una ciudad llena de perfume no sólo en primavera). Para el sistema de riego, se barajan distintas posibilidades bastante ecológicas; utilizar el agua de los túneles de lavado o el agua sobrante del sistema del aire acondicionado son algunas de ellas.

The increase of green zones in city centers is an issue that's getting more important all around the world. Their contribution is clear, green zones contribute to the absorption of CO2, they increase the environment humidity levels, refresh the air, help to beautify spaces and create microhabitats for fauna as well.

A lot of gardens carpet the ceilings and vertical gardens are tapestry in the walls. There are vegetable paintings that we can hang on our living rooms, but the most innovative solution has been to landscape the roof of public transportation. "A fleet of 300 buses with a landscaped roof, for example, would represent a surface of 6.000 cubic meters of vegetables moving constantly through the city" explains Marc Greñén, the creator of Phyto Kinetic, the system that made possible these installations.

By the moment, there has been some pilot tests with this bus from camping of Castell Montgrí, in Girona (hurray for Spain). The users are satisfied with this green experiment.

The vegetable species that can be used depends on each city, but now they're are studying cactus uses, vegetables for eating and aromatic grass (we really like the idea of a city full of perfume not only on spring). For the irrigation system they consider some ecological options; using the water from car washing or the remaining water from the air conditioner system are some of them.
